a weekend at quilts in the barn

Meghan Leslie's version of DNQTTT (Deb's not quite telling the truth)

How do I begin to describe the extraordinary talent, the amazing creativity, the open and true friendliness that was this past weekend?  I spent two delightful days in quilty heaven.

Words escape me...

Deb King's Pennsylvanian Applique

Meghan Leslie's Mary Brown (basted and quilting in progress)

I don't want to steal Linda's thunder, so make sure you check back at her blog - Quilts in the Barn - I'm sure there will be lots of photos of the quilts soon.

My sincere apologies to the maker of this beauty, I failed to take a shot of the label, so taken was I with the quilting.

Di Ford's Route 66

There were a few distractions from the visual overload of so many sensational quilts in one place...a little shopping...

Some fabric from Threadbear - how cute is the fabric muffin - some essential purples, yellows and repro lights.  (The rest is in the mail, thanks Corliss!)

And (only) two quilt patterns designed by Di Ford; Drayton Hall (oh look at all those wee diamonds!) and the Burnt Quilt. Just a bit to keep me off the streets. There was serious temptation to bring home the entire collection of Di's patterns! (These are also available from Threadbear).

Congratulations to Linda and her team of helpers for putting on one of the best quilt displays I have seen, in the most picturesque of settings.  Congratulations, too, to the SSS a group of very very talented quilters. Thankyou for sharing your treasures.

Do you have a full size photo of the red one?

Hi Donna - I do, so I'll post shortly.

The Secret Sewing Sisterhood, whose quilts were featured in this show, appear to challenge each other to make a design. There were three quilts of this particular design - this red version made by Meghan, one with an espresso coffee coloured background made by Deb (from Needles, Sticks and Hooks blog) and one with a cream background.

All absolutely gorgeous. The red background reminded me of a Persian rug. It was really interesting to see the different interpretations of the same design.
best regards, Kate

Kate, you lucky, lucky girl!! I would have given anything to be able to go. I didn't know the Burnt Quilt pattern was out yet. I'll have to check Threadbears site, as I really want to do that one. Great photos. Hopefully you have more? :)

Kate, Looks like an amazing show, I was supposed to go and join my gorgeous friend Liz (Broderie)but work got in the way. I have to settle for the lovely show you girls are providing on your blogs and of course I will check out Linda's and support her by purchasing the CD.
Thanks for sharing

Hi Kate - so glad you enjoyed the show and thanks for all your kind comments. I'm not sure if I spoke to you or not - did I? If so I wish you had identified yourself....oh well next time.
Doesn't Linda and her crew do a fab job. I can't believe how smooth everything was - except for the weather, but some things are just beyong control.

Thanks Kate for your lovely comments. The unnamed quilt is Mariner's Garden, another of Di Ford's designs. The qulting that so distracted you is by Carolyn Konig of Carolyn's Quilting Room in Wodonga.

Can't get enough of those quilts - such a talented lot! Thanks for the inspiring post. I have ordered the Burnt Quilt pattern too now - didn't know it was available either. I have a Dutch panel that I have been hoarding - so am hoping it'll fit in the middle...
All the best :)
