Go check out Mimi's blocks - they look fabbo.
I did start off following the pattern, but have now deviated so far from the original that it's barely recognisable. Nevertheless,I thought it might be time I saw them laid out together....there's 4 from the original quilt so far...
Most recently completed is the block above:- another lovely block from a quilt in Bill Volckening's collection.
Six blocks done, six to go. The aim is to surround the centre eagle with 12 blocks then perhaps an applique border of some kind. Perhaps the pots could go in each corner?
Not sure about setting these together - what do you think? I've been considering a something separating the centre eagle perhaps a border of some kind? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.
Hope you're having a productive week.

Very pretty Kate! I like the idea of a sawtooth border using 45 degree triangles around the eagle. I think that would really compliment the center. And maybe a repeat of the sawtooth border around the 12 blocks also to finish it off.
I love it Kate! It may be not look like the orginal but it is going to be fantastic as well!
I think Monica gave you great advise. Sawtooth border around the center block and then see about the outside border, Depends on the applique in your border panels. It's fabulous, who cares if you deviated from the original pattern, thats the beauty of quilting! Fabulous job so far!
I like the color combo you have used for your blocks.
It's a work of art! Way to make it your own.
Lookong forward to your next progress report.
what do I think? I think its fabulous!
love the idea of the corner pots too.
Your blocks are wonderful and I love how you have made them your own :0) No suggestions for the sashing and borders....that's the hardest part for me, until I decide how it will be quilted.

Awesome! I love what you're doing. Make sure to keep notes on where the blocks came from. Mary Couchman Small would be very proud!
