well looky here - a quilt mania feature

Here is my "Mad Birds" quilt - featured in this month's edition of Quilt Mania!

I was aware they had taken photographs whilst the quilt was hanging at the Darling Harbour Quilt Show in June, but thought that in the plethora of images taken my quilt would end up "on the cutting room floor" so to speak, but no, here it is for all who care to see.

Note this photo has been pinched from Kathy's blog over at Material Obsession - I know she wont mind.  As soon as I heard the news I ordered a copy of the magazine but it's still in transit.  Go over to Material Obsession to see other quilts featured in the issue which were created during workshops held at the store.

I am most honoured and delighted to have a quilt featured  in such a lovely magazine, and to be in such esteemed quiltmaking company!

quaint shapes for jane

The applique blocks for the pseudo BTCT have been put away for a little while in favour of Jane....I feel rather bad calling her Circles of Death, she really isn't that bad....rather fun really and it's been a pleasure to work with her again.
The next round with lots of appliqué shapes is almost completed. It has been a lot of fun putting together the tiny pieced stars and circles and random "quaint shapes"...
Sweet little love- birds with strangely misshapen club feet...
This little star was pieced over paper - it is only about 4" across...
Still some spaces to fill with random shapes, hearts, circles, ovals... just because....

You'll notice my call for assistance with the brown fabric has been answered by the fabric angels - thank you, thank you, thank you! I think it's perfect for this border.

In other news, bright and early tomorrow morning well before the sparrows rise  I'll be boarding a southbound flight to Melbourne! Can't wait!! this will be my second time at Quilts in the Barn and if last years' exhibition was any indication we should be in for a treat.

Linda's amazing efforts are all to aid raising money for  research into a cure for breast cancer, a totally worthy cause, and should be great fun as well - seeing gorgeous quilts and meeting up with fellow quilters and bloggers. Plus it's a great excuse for a girlie weekend of quilts, shopping, cafes, shopping, exploring Melbourne, and did I mention shopping? Ahhhh Melbourne.... it's a bit of a mecca for great fashion and in particular (my favourite)... shoes.

My travel companion and I were the brunt of some rather harsh(!) ribbing from certain friends for missing ANOTHER Material Obsession workshop due to take place on Saturday but what can a girl do?  travel...sewing...travel...sewing...you know how the scales have tipped this time!

Hope your weekend is full to the brim with quilty goodness. I'm orf to pack.
