No work for me yesterday and today with a bit of the lurgie and feeling a bit sad and sorry for myself getting sick just before my holiday. As always perfect timing. Hopefully the ears will clear up so we can do some diving at one of my favourite destinations (only 3 days, 4 hours and 16 minutes to go but who's counting?)
So yesterday, with the machine set up in the sunniest spot in the house on a cold but beautifully clear wintery Sydney day some quilt therapy was called for.
Did she say machine? For long boring seams, yes. Here is what we achieved with the antique bow ties blocks.
This is what happens when you are indecisive...why choose one fabric when you can go for all three?
Happy with the frivoloty and lightness of it all, we now have suns beaming down onto the willow trees and shafts of sunlight through the branches!

I like the way you think. Why one fabric border, when you can add so much more dimension with more!! The willow trees turned out splendid--would have never thought of the stripes added this kind of fun to the applique pieces on your border. Now I have to wait to see what you add with the quilting!!! Glad this top did not just lay on a shelf--it will now have a bright future. Where did you find the delightful fabric between the 2 thin blue borders??? The star is cool--never seen this before. What fun.
I'm delighted with the frivolity of it too!! The stars are marvelous and you can't go wrong with polka dots :0) I find your triple border to be unexpected and delightful!
Gosh that looks great with your fabric choices. This is going to be a fantastic quilt and I really love the border treatments, they're inspiring.
Great indecision! Your borders bring the bowties to life.
think I am getting a bit of a head cold here too........hope your all better before your holiday.......have a great time.........
love this border Kate! I've always wanted to use the weeping willow - yours looks fantastic.
Feel better and have a great trip!
Perfect!....three is better than one!! and they look perfectly at home with the bow ties
I like the way your mind works...great vision
Three borders indeed, that addition to the quilt center made me just swoon! What a beauty this evolving into. Love it!!
I love it! The trees are amazing in the border!! Well, the whole thing is quite stunning!!
What a great border. BTW, can you fit me into your suitcase? Oh, you will have to swing by the Pacific NW to pick me up...hehehehe. What a gorgeous location, Fiji was my mothers fav place on earth, aside from home.
I really love the primitive /folk art style of your border. This will be such a great quilt when it's done, you know, if you feel like giving it away.....lol.
Superb!
Really love the motifs you have used in your border.
The prim border is something I like a lot. Good choice.
